I wrote a new WordPress plugin for a side project and just released it into the repository. It creates a custom post type for markers and then inserts them into an embedded Google Map, using the post’s featured image as the map icon.
Note: all support requests should be posted to the support forums.
When I use this plugin, it works great, except now on my other pages which are SSL encrypted (https) a mixed content warning pops up. Apparently a reference to a src in the plugin points back to a non SSL page. The map is not being put on the https pages, but it looks like your pluging writes something on every page, not just the page with the map. Any ideas on how to fix this?
@certifyup, thanks for letting me know about the problem. I’ve added that to my TODO list for the next release. It’ll probably be out in 1-2 weeks.
@certifyup, I decided to just release a small bug fix instead of waiting for the next minor release, so this should be fixed now if you download 1.1.1.
this plugin brokes multissite network administration
when i click to: http://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/
the screen show’s
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /homez.95/grupoond/www/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 1028
only whe this plugin was active
Thanks for letting me know jjorba. I’ll respond to the issue over in the support forums.
Hi there,
How I can show map with mark in my post?
I really don’t understand how it’s work.
If I write [bgmp-map] I see only basic map, how can I show any Placemark which I creat?
Please give more example, cause very difficult understand for normal users.
Thanks.
Hi Vee, just read the installation instructions — http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/basic-google-maps-placemarks/installation/.
Step 5 says to go to the Placemarks menu to add placemarks. It’s just like adding regular posts.
ian, thank u so much for you quick answer.
I don’t have problem with add placemarks.
Example:
I have one post about object in Thailand and in that post I want put google map with marker on my object in Thailand. But i don’t know how:(
Can you help me please?
I don’t think I really understand what you’re asking. If you want to map to show up in a page, just edit the page and add the [bgmp-map] shortcode. If you want a placemark to show up on the map, go to the Placemarks menu and add it, putting in the title and address.
Are you asking about putting the map in several different posts, and having different markers show up in each post? That’s not possible with this plugin. It’s intended to be used in one place on the site and show all the markers at the same time.
Ok, thanks
Hey,
Great plugin!
I do have a question for you. How can disable navigation bars?
Hi Mores, can you post that on the support forums? I try to keep all the support questions over there so that they’re organized and other people who have the same question can find them. When you do, please explain what you mean by the navigation bars. Do you mean the zoom in/out buttons?
Hi there – Love your plugin. Just a question on editing latitude and longitude manually when a place doesn’t appear. I am marking out a whole lot of surfing spots in the south pacific – your plugin is perfect BUT a lot of the areas are found only be latitude and longitude coordinates. How can I add these manually in the field? It’s not letting me?
Hi Catherine, could you please post this on the support forums? That helps me keep track of everything.
Thanks a bunch Ian – Will do:)
Good day!
I have a problem with the plugin after updating WP to 3.3.2 !!! The map doesn’t load at all !!! I really like this plugin and don’t want to search for another one…
Do you know about the problem? When are going to solve it?
Thanks
Hi Elen, I’ve tested it under 3.3.2 and haven’t had any problems. Please read the FAQ entry on upgrading, and if you still have problems then read the FAQ entry on how to file a support request.
Thanks a lot, Ian…I’ll try-hope I’ll find the answer
